CF026 MAF.GEN.ORDE WINGATE was one of the real “mavericks” of WW2. A British Army officer he created special military units to fight Arab terrorists in Palestine before the war. A highly religious Christian he was a devoted Zionist and believed it was his duty to help form a Jewish state. He is most famous for the “Chindits”, a force of British troops airborne-dropped behind Japanese lines in Burma. Their task was to attack enemy lines of communication and disrupt Japanese operations from deep within the opposing sides own territory. Personally brave but highly eccentric he was killed when his B25 aircraft crashed in northern India in March 1944. Our special K&C figure shows the bearded Wingate in British jungle green carrying his personal Lee Enfield .303 refile and wearing a pith sun helmet.
